Life is all about the journey.

My journey has taken me from Canada’s east coast all the way to Nunavut, India, Vietnam and Argentina – for work, and as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer.  In 2009, I landed in Alberta.

I have put my HR expertise to work in a variety of sectors: from unionized provincial/territorial governments and cash-strapped not-for-profits to national and international companies and oil and gas start-ups. This diversity of experience (and the resulting ‘trial by fire’ moments) has given me a broad set of tools and skills, an ability to adapt and learn quickly, a firm grounding in HR and a passion for helping companies grow. In 2011, I received my Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation (CPHR).

Whether it’s two people in a coffee shop or 250 students in an auditorium: one of my passions is teaching others about HR. During the regular school year, I am a part-time lecturer at Grande Prairie Regional College. Once a month, in a two-day intensive, I teach continuing education courses, including: Managing Anger, HR for the Non-HR Manager, Employee Terminations, Resumes & Interview Preparation, Generational Workforce (Millennial On-boarding is always a hot topic!) and more.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics, Master of Education in Adult Learning, my Bookkeeper certification and a Professional Home Ecologist designation. Recently, I also received my Senior Certified Professional status with the Society for Human Resource Management. And I am also a Commissioner of Oaths for Alberta.

When the weather is nice, you’ll find me camping or riding my ATV on the trails of North West Alberta with my partner in crime and life, Dave. We belong to the ATV Association of Alberta and are both on its Board of Directors. When the weather isn’t cooperating, you can find me in the sewing room or hanging out with my cats, Tundra and Hudson.
